I have everything under control!

Except my room. I think the laundry monster that's in April's house has spawned and moved to Minnesota...or maybe it's the other way around? Hard to tell. They all look alike. Although, I've decided to name mine Fred. (What's that you say? I'm crazy? Well, DUH! =)) What? It's a good name for a laundry monster. I think. I haven't known many. They're quite lazy, though. Fred is, anyway. He eats and eats, but just doesn't pick up after himself.

Moving on...

I seem to have a thing with yarn now. I bought yet more yarn, and I'm not even finished with my first project! (Which seems to be coming along nicely, although I'm a novice, so it's hard to tell for certain. It could look like crap for all I know!) I'll get my sister to critique it for me when either of us have a spare moment or two!

On an entirely different note, can I just say I have the absolute cutest niece? Yeah, I'm biased, but Olivia is the congregation princess! I just can't believe she's 4 1/2 months old. Of course, I can't believe that April's oldest is what, seven? Eight? Sheesh. I feel old...and I can hear a resounding chorus of "How old do you think *I* feel!"

Calming down

I apologize for the extreme insanity of my previous post. I should be banned from my blog when I've gotten only four hours of sleep and had WAAAYYYYY too much sugar. If you're still even reading this blog, you deserve a medal. Or a psych evaluation. Either one.

In knitting news, the multicolored yarn I mentioned previously is becoming a scarf. Probably the brightest scarf in Minnesota, but a scarf nonetheless. I just kinda started casting on and doing a stockinette stich, and somewhere in the middle it decided that's what it wanted to be. Now, I realize it's not usually recommended to let your current project decide what it wants to be, but hey, individuality rocks! Generally, you follow a pattern, making a gauge first. But this is me. Since when do I do things the easy way? Anyway, it seems to be coming along nicely.

My brother is fascinated by my knitting. He asks questions out of the blue every once in awhile, and I answer them. (On a related note, I'm quite proud of the fact that I've refrained from laughing at his interest in knitting. I promised I wouldn't laugh at him, and I've kept that promise...although it's been hard at times.) Tonight, he asked "Now, purling is when you have all the yarn on one needle, right?"

Uh. No. I explained the difference between purl stitch and knit stitch, likely confusing him in the process. Frankly, the fact that I know enough about knitting to answer questions of any sort is nothing short of a miracle!

Now, I'm exhausted, so I'm going to sleep...zzzz...zzzz...

SQUEE!!!!!

*does happy dance*

I'm so beyond excited I can barely contain myself! Why? Simply that my aunt and some of my cousins (including my fellow Dark Side Knitter and Mica!) are planning a trip up here to Minnesota! I'm beginning an official countdown until the week-long slumber party - a party at which the main event will be our plan for world domination. (one of the main strategies in this is forcing everyone to watch Napoleon Dynamite - repeatedly - until their brains begin to leak out their ears as we three cackle madly.)

We are two Pinkys and one Brain. Melee and I are the Pinkys and Mica is the brain. If you know any of us at all, this makes complete sense. If you don't know any of us at all, you're probably safer that way. =)

The only down-side to this whole thing is that it doesn't sound like April has any plans to join them in their quest for Minnesota. Poop. =( Me no likey. *pout* It won't be as much fun watching stupid movies and pretending like we're MST3000 without you. (Remember the Olympics when you were here for Jules' wedding?) So there.

My other big news is that I bought more yarn. Instead of plain moss green, this is multi-colored! So pretty...I don't have the courage to try any of the funky yarn out there - yet. I'll get there, I promise!

I would post more, but I must refine my outline for my next nefarious plot. The killer rabbit seems to be unavailable for my timeline. Any suggestions?

Knit, purl, knit, purl

I have not yet begun to knit.

Okay, so I changed that quote a little to suit my psychotic needs.

What I mean is that while yes, I have learned how, and yes, I'm completely addicted, I have yet to start a project. (I can hear April and my sis yelling at me - in scary unison - "Well, get with it already!") But...I will warn y'all now: I have a very bad tendency of not finishing things. In my latest endeavor (knitting, in case anyone's missed the excitement), I will do my best to be a good little Dark Side Knitter. Or is that an *evil* Dark Side Knitter. Ah well. Pick whichever one you think fits me best. And, in the distance, a chorus of voices agrees on the latter choice.

My wonderful sis taught me easier ways to cast on, how to keep my edges straight, and how to do ribbing. Believe me, she's got her work cut out for her! By no means are we finished. Sigh. Obviously, I have a lot to learn, and I bow to the gracefulness and talent of all of you super-duper Knitters out there. (That's you guys too, Sis, April, Mica, and Melee!) Actually, Jules had a lot to do with my initial interest in knitting, too. She kept making all these cute things for my darling niece (the only one I've got, so it's my auntly duty to spoil her as much as possible...even if she's only four months old.), and I was - and still am - in awe of her knitting. Call me nuts, but I think it's fascinating how a simple, continuous line of yarn can be weaved into anything: socks, scarves, sweaters, and of course, Booty Kickin' Baby Blankets!

Quite frankly - and quite stupidly, I'll admit - I believe I have a fear of failure. So, it's time for me to quit messing around! I'm bringing out the big guns! Playing with the big Knitters!

...as soon as I figure out what the heck I'm doing...
